Workshop Series – Exploring Research through Bodily Experiences

How can bodily experience become a way of engaging with academic knowledge? How can movement, perception, and embodied practices contribute to the production of knowledge?

The workshop series IMPULSE-through-Bodies creates an experimental and supportive space to explore ongoing research through bodily experiences. Bringing together academic inputs from different disciplines with embodied practices such as dance, theatre, singing, and other approaches, the series invites participants to engage with research in new and experiential ways. Each workshop combines a short scholarly input with a practical, body-based exploration and concludes with a shared reflection on the experiences and insights that emerge.

The series is open to everyone. No experience with movement practices is required—only curiosity and the willingness to explore. We also welcome collaborations with researchers, artists, and practitioners who are interested in contributing to future sessions. During this opening event of the series “IMPULSE-through-Bodies”, participants will be invited to explore ongoing research through dancing. The event starts with an anthropological input by Louisa Müller, presenting key perspectives on embodied experience and processes of belonging. This will be followed by a free dance session (non-guided), curated by Silke Steinert-Berndt, inviting participants to explore the concepts introduced before through movement. The session will conclude with a joint reflection on the experiences and insights that emerge from the dance practice.

The dance session will take place barefoot and without words, creating space to engage with the themes through movement and personal experience.
